Other Uses for Your Dishwasher

When it comes to cleaning up after meals, dishwashers relieve a lot of the pain of washing by hand. Being able to plop dishware and related items into a machine and let it do all the dirty work is about as convenient as it can get.

But that’s not all your dishwasher is good for. In fact, here are a few other things you can clean in your dishwasher for great results and added convenience.

Desk Accessories – Most plastic and metal desk accessories like paper organizers and pencil cups can be washed right in your dishwasher.

Flip Flops – Flip flops and some sandals can look a little tired after a summer of fun, but a quick washing will revive them.

Vacuum Attachments – When was the last time you cleaned all the dust and dirt off your plastic vacuum attachments? If you answered somewhere around never, toss them on the top rack, push the start button, and the task will be completed for you.

Retainer Cases – Place your mouth-guard or retainer case on the top rack of the dishwasher every couple of weeks to clean and disinfect.

Removable Cup Holders – The cup and change holders in your car can get grimy, and it doesn’t take long. If they are removable, wash them in the dishwasher to remove sticky residue.

High-Chair Tray – You can wash the plastic tray from your child’s high chair right in the dishwasher.

Teething Toys – Clean and disinfect child teething toys by washing them on the top rack or in the silverware basket.

Golf Balls – It won’t help improve your swing, but your dishwasher can get your golf balls clean and shiny.

Burner Grates – Some burner grates can be cleaned in the dishwasher, but you’ll first have to scrub off burnt food and grease.
